Beer is typically made up of water, malted barley, hops, and yeast. The two most common types of beers are Lager's and Ale's. The two major components that determine what the beer style will be are the temperature it is fermented at and the yeast used. Lagers are generally fermented between 50° F and 65° F, and strain of yeast for Lagers or Lager yeast is what is called bottom fermenting. Ales are commonly Fermented between 65° F and 75° F, and the strain of yeast for Ales or Ale yeast is called top fermenting.

Why did I write this book?
When I started homebrewing, I did not have anyone to help me, and with no books that really concentrated on beginning homebrweing. My first couple batches of beer did not turn out like I hoped. After figuring out what I was doing wrong, I decided that I wanted to help other new homebrewers.
